I engage in faith through the lens of Catholicism. I was fortunate to grow up at a parish with gothic-style architecture that grounded me in the grandeur of God’s presence.

When I was graduating from high school, I considered either entering religious life or going to college. I chose college and later took a hiatus from church. After university, I was learning a third language; I joined the choir at parish with masses in that language (a roommate who was a native speaker told me after mass one weekend that she couldn’t see the choir from the back of the church, but she could hear me because of my English accent!). My later “return to church” story is told here.

More recently, I have become active in Seattle-area Catholic faith communities – emphasizing contemplative prayer, mysticism, adult faith formation (religious education), RCIA/OCIA, liturgy, theology, and faith healing.

I support adult faith development and spiritual accompaniment here (Hermitage Within) for the broader public. Growing in faith is a life-long endeavor – just like maturing psychologically, emotionally, and in workplace development. We can’t grow in our faith if we assume that an adult-level of faith can be nurtured based solely on the religious education we received as children. There’s a growing-up in faith available to us as adults.

I have a Catechetical Certificatefrom the Seattle Archdiocese, a Certificate in Pastoral Accompaniment from Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University (Steubenville), and am currently (2025 – 2027) studying for a Master’s in Theological Studies (MTS) atSaint Martin’s University. My earlier education includes a social services/communications-related bachelor’s degree (Western Washington University’s Fairhaven College), an MBA (Regis University), and a certificate in online education. I have taught at the university level – both in the classroom and online.
